2nd Annual Resident Research Day

The University of Minnesota Department of Surgery 2nd Annual Resident Research Day will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at 9:00 am in PWB 11-157.  Nine abstracts, five basic science and four clinical science, will be presented by our surgery residents. Two Resident Research Day awards will be given – one for excellence in basic science research and one for excellence in clinical science research.  Award recipients will be announced at the 2008 Graduation and Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, June 10, at 6:30 pm at the Walker Art Center. 4th Annual UMN Bariatric Education Day
May 22, 2008

Hyatt Regency Hotel, Minneapolis

The Department of Surgery Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery is proud to present the 4th Annual University of Minnesota Bariatric Education Day. The conference will focus on maximizing success with bariatric surgical procedures, minimizing complications and readmissions. There will be strong emphasis on patient selection, indications and contraindications for each procedure. Replacement of vitamins, minerals and key nutrients will be emphasized in the postoperative course. For those practices which perform banding, we will share some of our experiences with algorithms for adjustment of the band.

The target audience will be bariatric surgeons, ER physicians, primary care physicians, internists, nurses, gastroenterologists, dieticians, psychologists, nurse practicitioners, physician assistants and health insurance industry leaders.

There is no registration fee to attend this course. If you would like to obtain the CME credit, there is a nominal fee of $50. Pre-registration for this conference ends at 4:30 pm Central Time on May 20, 2008. After this, time registrations will be taken on-site.
