When can the donor return to work?

Generally, the donor is the best judge of the right time to return to work. He or she should be able to return to work by 6 to 8 weeks after surgery if the job does not involve heavy physical labor or lifting. If it does, the donor should plan on waiting 2 to 3 months after surgery, to allow the abdominal muscles to heal.
