The program utilizes the resources of 3 full time University teaching hospitals and two private offices working at hospitals with strong affiliations with active University training programs.

University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview

University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview

University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview (UMMC) is located on the University of Minnesota campus. The hospital shares many facilities and is contiguous with the School of Medicine. UMMC is a 573 bed tertiary care and referral center for the Fairview Health System, drawing from the Five State Region: Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Medical staff members hold faculty positions and are active in clinical practice, teaching, and research.


Regions Hospital

Regions Hospital

Regions Hospital is a level 1 trauma center serving the east metropolitan area and is located approximately nine miles from the University of Minnesota campus. The 18 bed Burn Center is one of the most active in the region, treating approximately 250 patients per year referred from the Five State Region. The Burn Center has its own dedicated rehabilitation unit. Residents receive extensive experience in maxillofacial trauma and mircosurgery.


Veteran's Affairs Medical Center

VA Medical Center

This 845 bed hospital, completed in 1988, is the tertiary referral center for veterans in the Five State Region. A broad experience in reconstructive surgery is offered. A large-animal research facility is available on campus.
