Cassius Ellis Award
This award honors the chief resident who best demonstrates a dedication to teaching and mentoring more junior colleagues. It is in memory of Dr. Cassius M.C. Ellis III, a longtime clinical professor in the Department of Surgery who was the director of surgical education at North Memorial Medical Center. Dr. Ellis, who died in 1997, was also the first assistant dean for minority students at the University of Minnesota Medical School. 1988 - Dr. Russell A. Shatford 1989 - Dr. Peter G.
